Our most prestigious and historic show opens this Friday: the 154th Annual Exhibition of Small Oil Paintings. This tradition in began in 1865, just five years after we were founded, and continues to a be strong regional inspiration for artists, collectors, and appreciators.
There is no shortage of artwork to admire. This is the breathtaking work of 135 artists, in a combined total of 198 pieces. Whether you are looking for ideas to inform your own work, or you are in the market for some decorative pieces to hang in your space, the Philadelphia Sketch Club has you covered.
We are also hosting a Winners Show in our Stewart Gallery downstairs for artists who won awards during our 2016 exhibition calendar year. Last year’s Small Oils first place winner, Tom Kohlmann, is showing his piece in this exhibition, along with many other talented artists.
Plan to attend the reception with friends on Sunday, April 23rd, from 2 to 4pm, where we will be awarding Small Oil winners. Best In Show will receive the R Tait McKenzie bronze medal.
Meanwhile, we encourage you to come in for a visit!
