June Dinner Meeting

 

June 8th is our PSC’s Annual Pizza night under the stars!  This year, dinner will be preceded by ‘Killer’ Nachos (featuring crisp tortillas w/Monterey Jack and Colby cheddar cheese, olives, peppers, onion served with sour cream, salsa and jalapeno peppers) followed by several selections of pizzas and a tossed salad from our caterer, Pizzeria Cappelli Brothers located at 209 South 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA – take out only. There will be vegetarian selections available and cookies for dessert.

Our speaker for this dinner will be Ken Weiner. Ken is the Vice President of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, as well as Membership Chair, Portfolio Editor, and Chair of the upcoming PHOTOgraphy Exhibition.

Workshop Show Reception

 

Come by the Sketch Club on May 20th from 2-4 PM for our workshop reception! This exhibition features a number of curated works from our weekly workshops. Our artists utilize many different forms of media including charcoal, pastel, oils and many more. You can learn more about our workshops here!

 

May Dinner Meeting and Election

 

Reserve your spot now for the PSC’s May Dinner Meeting and Election! The meeting will be held on Friday, May 11th, at 5:30 PM. The deadline for RSVPs is Wednesday, May 9th at noon. You can email executivedirector@sketchclub.org, or call 215-545-9298.

Cost: $16 for Members, and $18 for Guests

MENU: Sliced Roast Beef with Gravy  |  Roasted Rosemary Potatoes  | Roasted Carrots  | Eggplant Parmigiana  | Garden Salad  | Cheesecake for Dessert. Meals are arranged and coordinated by PSC member volunteer Chuck Tarr. 

Sketch Club Election of Board of Directors

Any PSC member in good standing who has been a member for more than one year is eligible to run for an Executive or Board position. Executive Officers serve one-year terms, and Board members serve for two years. The Board meetings are scheduled for 6:30 PM on the third Tuesday of each month at the Club. 

If you would like to nominate yourself or another member for an elected position, contact Michael Fernandez, our Nominations Chairman, at michaelanthonyfernandez@yahoo.com. The list of candidates will be presented during the election, which will take place during the dinner meeting. 

 

Plein Air Event and Exhibition

Excited for the plein air season? 

The Philadelphia Sketch Club will be holding an urban plein air event from May 1st to July 17th, and an exhibition of registered works from July 25th to August 15th in our main gallery.

PSC Members’ Exhibition at the Old City Jewish Art Center

The Philadelphia Sketch Club has a new exhibition opportunity! PSC Members are invited to exhibit their work at the Old City Jewish Art Center from June 1st to June 30th. This exhibition is a collaboration of both organizations. It will be curated by Bill Kosman of the Sketch Club and Rabbi Zalman Wircberg, Gallery Director of OCJAC.

Art of the Flower Revised Pick-Up Dates

The Sketch Club’s pick-up dates for the Art of the Flower Exhibition have been expanded. Artists can pick up their artwork on the following days:

  • Saturday, March 31st from 3 to 5 PM
  • Monday, April 2nd from 1 to 5 PM
  • Wednesday, April 4th from 1 to 5 PM

Until then, make sure to see the exhibition before it ends!
