145 th Anniversary Celebration at the Philadelphia Sketch Club

On Sunday, November 13 th the Philadelphia Sketch Club will celebrate its 145 th anniversary. Several events will take place on this date that will contribute to the festive occasion.

Every five years the Philadelphia Sketch Club honors an individual or individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts in Philadelphia . This year, we will be honoring Happy Fernandez, President of Moore College of Art & Design and Anne Kaplan, founder of the Senior Artists Initiative. These two women have been chosen for their work with emerging and established artists, respectively. A ceremony will take place where Dr. Fernandez and Ms. Kaplan will be awarded the Philadelphia Sketch Club Medal. The medals will be presented by Lisa Tremper Hanover, Director of the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College .

In tribute to the women being honored, the exhibition opening on November 13 th will be Art for all Seasons , which will feature work by selected current students of Moore College of Art and Design and artists who are part of the Senior Artists Initiative. The opening will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 . The exhibition will run through December 4 th . Also on view in the first floor gallery, Art in a Box..

Located at 235 South Camac Street (between 12 th and 13 th , Locust and Spruce), the Philadelphia Sketch Club is conveniently located and accessible by many public transportation routes.
