Sketch Club Exhibition Spotlights Community Art Centers
The Philadelphia Sketch Club will open its 2004/2005 exhibition season with Those Who Teach: The Works of Art Center Faculty. The opening reception for the exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Sunday, September 12 from 2 to 5 pm.
The exhibition will feature the works of 35 artists who serve as faculty members at 13 community art centers throughout the Delaware Valley. Among some of the artists exhibiting in this show are Tony Rosati, Nancy Barch, and Joyce Mansfield –Divine who are representing Abington Art Center, Community Arts Center of Wallingford, and the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial, respectively. Additional art centers represented in this exhibition are Wayne Art Center, Chester County Art Association, Taller Puertorriqueno, Main Line Art Center, Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Darlington Fine Arts Center, Montgomery County Cultural Center, Sedgwick Cultural Center, and theVillage of Arts and Humanities. The exhibition will include an eclectic mixture of subject and media which is representative of the diverse offerings at the art centers.
Each year, the Philadelphia Sketch Club includes at least one outreach exhibition in its schedule to bring attention to artists working in other geographic area or schools of thought. Those Who Teach will bring attention to the important contributions that art centers bring to their communities by adding to the quality of life through art instruction and programs.
This exhibition will run through Oct 10 and is open to the public for viewing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. There is no admission charge. The Philadelphia Sketch Club is located at 235 S. Camac Street (between 12th and 13th; Locust and Spruce Sts.).
