How does an organization thrive to its 150th anniversary and beyond? Support.

We rely on your generous support to help us maintain and build on our great heritage. During the club's early years it wasn't much to run a professional organization-all you needed was a meeting place and the membership. In today's urban world, the challenges are far different. We have to provide funding for:

  • Our historic clubhouse, which requires extensive maintenance; we are also in the process up updating major systems in the clubhouse, including HVAC and electrical.
  • Outreach to our membership, including electronic outreach and print/mailing.
  • A professional staff to manage club activities, and to reach out to new supporters.

Become a Friend of the Philadelphia Sketch Club--
Since 1860, THE Club for Professional Artists!

The Philadelphia Sketch Club is a truly unique organization. Founded in 1860, it is America's oldest artists club. Some of the most distinguished names in American art, even the controversial Thomas Eakins, have had a history with the Sketch Club.

Yet the Sketch Club is as vital as today's works. The flowering of art in the region, particularly in Northern Liberties, is reflected in the Club's enthusiastic membership.

The club has been called Philadelphia's best-kept secret, known well to a small circle of experts and enthusiasts. This is your invitation to join that circle.

Sketch Club Friends Experience Art Directly With Artists. Discover contemporary art in its freshest, with robust discussions, special exhibitions, and access to the region's leading artists, critics, and collectors. The Friends program provides a great opportunity for art lovers and collectors to share their enthusiasm in an informal setting. Fascinating social and educational events are scheduled throughout the year.
