As a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, you’ll become part of a living tradition that spans generations. This is more than just a place to make art — it’s a place to belong. Rooted in the heart of Philadelphia’s historic art scene, the Sketch Club offers a space to learn from others, share your work, and connect with fellow artists. Whether you’re sketching in a workshop, socializing at an event, or just hanging out in our Center City clubhouse, you’ll find inspiration, friendship, and a creative home. The best learning happens side by side — by doing, by observing, and by being part of something bigger.
Benefits of Membership

As a member, you’ll enjoy many benefits, including:

  • Show Your Work: Submit to up to 10 exhibitions a year, including member-only shows and the chance for a solo exhibition at a greatly reduced fees.
  • Save on Workshops: Get discounted rates on life drawing, printmaking and masterclass workshops — just bring your supplies, we’ve got the easels.
  • Promote Yourself: Be listed on our website with a link to your portfolio, and share your news in our monthly newsletter.
  • Socialize and: Join member dinners, expert presentations, and events where you can connect, network, and build friendships.
  • Network with Patrons : Access to our members-only directory, offering opportunities to network with other artists and find potential patrons.
  • Use the Clubhouse: Relax, create, or hang out in our historic Center City row house — complete with gallery, garden, library, and even a pool table.
  • Be Part of History: Join the legacy of America’s oldest artist club and help support a creative community that spans generations.

Membership Fee (Starting June 1, 2025):

  • Standard Membership: $175/year
  • Young Adult Membership (under 35): $90/year

Special Promotion

We are introducing a limited number of scholarship memberships for young artists who regularly attend our workshops and may be facing financial hardship. These one-year memberships will include an opportunity to volunteer at the Club as a way to stay connected and involved in our creative community. Contact volunteer@sketchclub.org to apply. 

We welcome all applicants who are supporters of the arts or are active in the visual arts.

After your application is received, it will be reviewed for approval at the Sketch Club’s next board meeting – every 3rd Tuesday of the month. Our goal is to be inclusive and welcoming — we believe in building a diverse and supportive community. You’ll receive an email notification as soon as your membership is approved.

You can pay via Paypal or with a credit card. Fees for unaccepted applications will be fully refunded.

Participating in club activities by volunteering is an important part of the PSC experience. Help is always needed to help with exhibition activities, gallery functions, and other special event activities. Please indicate areas that you would be willing to volunteer for. If you have special skills or interests, please tell us about them.
