Hey there, I’m Catherine! I’m a versatile, award-winning illustrator operating out of Philly. I specialize in book layout & design, sequential art, character design, children’s illustration, and concept art. Although I often employ a whimsical and colorful style, I love branching out with new concepts, stylizations and mediums.
What You’ll Learn:
|
Our workshop begins with a brief overview of zine history and culture, exploring how artists, writers, and communities have used zines as tools for creative expression, storytelling, and activism. We’ll look at examples of how zines are used, and the vast array of subjects and styles zines can encapsulate.
Attendees will learn how to fold a simple mini-zine from a single sheet of paper. We’ll walk through the process step by step, so anyone can recreate a zine on their own! We will also share a digital zine template.
In the second half of the workshop, you’ll dive into making your own zine. Using the folded booklet you created, you’ll sketch, color, or write your way through your zine in relaxed, low-pressure crafting time.
All materials (and refreshments) provided. You don’t need to bring anything besides your creativity!
