Introducing Art as Civic Voice, an open call for artworks in celebration of this year’s United States Semiquincentennial.
Art as Civic Voice invites artists to consider the role of creative expression within public life. This exhibition seeks works that engage with art as a form of civic participation, social dialogue, and reflection.
Artists are encouraged to interpret “civic voice” broadly. Submissions may explore:
- The history, people, and evolving identity of Philadelphia
- The role of art in shaping or responding to democratic processes, governance, and public discourse
- How visual culture influences political thought and activism
- Art as a tool for social change
- The construction and preservation of collective memory across communities and generations
- Other interpretations
Submitted pieces may be 2D or 3D in any medium and must explore the theme of “Art as Civic Voice”
This show is NOT juried. All works MUST be framed and wired to hang. Artists may submit a maximum of 2 works.
