Members can join at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/PSCCritiqueTake part in monthly challenges to create new artwork based on a new theme each month.

Here’s how it works:

• Go to the new group page and request access, which is available to all Club members in good standing.
• Once in the group, post your work and watch as other members post their artwork for the month’s composition theme.
• This Facebook Group is private; this means that as members submit their work others are invited to critique each other in a professional and respectful way.
• Make suggestions for new themes and vote for your favorite.

The first theme is “Love in the Time of Pandemic”

As the COVID-19 crisis unfolds, it is clear that it is in the best interest of our members and friends to curtail activities involving groups of any size.  With that in mind, we are taking the following actions:

• We’re sorry to announce that the upcoming 157th Small Oil Paintings exhibition scheduled for March 23rd through April 30th is cancelled.  We hope to reschedule this event in the late summer time-frame.
• Workshops and other PSC activities are cancelled through April 15th.  However, it is highly likely that we will have to extend that closure.
• Our office will be open Wed & Fri 11 AM – 5 PM; (215) 545 – 9298
  • Call or email to arrange to pickup work from the Art of the Flower exhibition

Please join us for our 159^th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, March 28^th.  The Gala will be held at the Philadelphia Sketch Club, 235 S. Camac Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, from 6 to 10 PM.  You will have a fun time and get to mix with many prominent members of the artistic community.  At the Gala, we will honor three of America’s top artists, John Ennis, Jane Golden and James Toogood, with the presentation of the Philadelphia Sketch Club Medal. Below is the advertisement of the event that appears in the March issue of ICON Magazine.

In addition to the medal presentations, highlights of the evening will include an unreserved live auction of artworks by the honorees John Ennis and James Toogood, and a Moe Brooker donated work in honor of Jane Golden.  Other donated contemporary and historic works in the live auction are by the artists Henry Pitz, Domenic DiStefano, Carl Weber, Anthony Autorino, T. Norman Mansell, Cesare Ricciardi and Doree Loschiavo. The auction will be conducted by David Weiss, Senior Vice President at Freeman’s and a specialist on the Antiques Road Show.  Images and descriptions of the live auction items are attached.  There will also be an open bar, deluxe hors d’oeuvres and live music.

An Honorary Committee had previously been established to help encourage participation in the event.  Serving on the committee were David R. & Holly Trostle Brigham; William R. Valerio; Cecelia Fitzgibbon; David Weiss; Richard A. Harrington; Bill Scott; Garth Herrick; Gail Ferretti and Howard Schaevitz; Bill and Pat Patterson; and John Thornton.

Presentation of PSC medals to recognize the achievements of artists is now an annual event tied to the PSC fundraising gala.  Other artists who have been honored by the Sketch Club Galas have included Tony Auth, Jan Baltzell, Robert Beck, Moe Brooker, Diane Burko, Patrick Connors, Vincent DeSiderio, Paul DuSold, Cindi Ettinger, Alan Fetterman, Eileen Goodman, Al Gury, Garth Herrick, Alex Kanevsky, Christine Lafuente, Elizabeth Osborne, Barbara & Richard Rosenfeld, Bill Scott, Zoe Strauss, Jamie Wyeth, Robert Venturi, Signe Wilkinson, Denise Scott Brown, Edmund Bacon and Doris Brandes.
